Taking Green Beyond Cleaning Chemicals
A White Paper by Mike Kapalko, Tork Sustainability Marketing Manager
What started with cleaning chemicals that are safer for people and the planet has grown into a holistic movement that includes building design, touch-free plumbing fixtures, environmentally friendly manufacturing processes and much more. But sorting green from greenwashing has become increasingly complex. There are an estimated 300-plus environmental labels in the world, including more than 80 used in North America alone. Because the marketplace likes clarity, the evolution of green is starting to stimulate better self-policing and appears headed for a consolidation of certifiers and possibly an increased government role. Growth Trends in the Green Maintenance Movement
A White Paper by Michael Wilson, former editor of Maintenance Supplies magazine
The green cleaning trend that surfaced in the maintenance industry in the early 1990s has snowballed into a widespread green maintenance movement embracing products and processes that protect the health and safety of workers, building occupants and the planet. After overcoming initial obstacles of performance and price, the use of environmentally preferable options in facility cleaning and management has become pervasive. Certification organizations such as Green Seal, EcoLogo and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program of the U.S. Green Building Council have created trustworthy standards. At the same time, jan/san manufacturers have helped make consumers increasingly knowledgeable about and supportive of green choices. Download White Paper
